Basic concepts

MySQL

MySQL is a relational database using SQL (Structured Query Language) - the most popular language for database information adding, accessing, and processing. The base is open source; it may be downloaded from the Internet and used by anyone based on their needs without a license.

MySQL’s advantage is that specific data may be stored in a large number of separate small tables with relations established among them, instead of in one huge table. This speeds up data processing to a great extent and makes it much easier.

IP Address (Internet Protocol Address)

The IP address is a unique 32-bit number used by computers when they communicate to each other in a local network or on the Internet (similar to telephone numbers). An example for IP address is 212.36.24.6. By means of these IP addresses, computers exchange information.

Add-On domain

The Add-On domain option enables you to host multiple websites, associated with an individual domain, on one hosting account. Thus, if you have multiple sites, you do not have to buy a separate hosting plan for each website but you may host them all on the same hosting account. All websites that have been hosted as Add-On domains share account parameters (disk space, bandwidth, etc.) together with the account’s basic domain/website.

Subdomain

A subdomain is part of a primary domain name, but it is located at a lower level in domain name hierarchy. Each domain name may be inherited from an unlimited number of subdomains, which are the domain’s derivatives. Each subdomain name is located in front of domain name and is separated by means of a period ('.')

Example:

Domain name: your-name.com

Subdomains:

  • office.your-name.com
  • marketing.your-name.com
  • store.your-name.com, etc.

All hosting plans offered by iServices provide you with the opportunity to configure and use subdomains.

Domain Name

The term is derived from the English word 'domain' (i.e., possession, ownership). This represents the right to possess a certain name for a certain period of time. Each name corresponds to the numeric IP address of a particular computer on the Internet.

Domain names are unique and may not be repeated. After registration of a domain name and its assignment to a certain website and/or email address, the user makes this website and email accessible and visible by any other computer as part of the World Wide Web.
